Laura Esbensen is a San Diego based artist, working with drawn and painted mixed media techniques. She combines cross hatched ink drawings with explorative color blocking and abstract application, juxtaposing mechanical and organic imagery for a high contrast effect. Recent works have also included paper-cutting elements for a three dimensional effect. Esbensen deals primarily with themes of the psychedelic, playful and bizarre, frequently featuring all beetles, mushrooms, and octopus.
She has Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Arts from the University of California, San Diego, and is expected to complete a Master's in Fine Arts from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA, in June 2024.
