Keikichi Honna is a glass blower by day and photographer by night.
A recent collection of his glass artworks are inspired from regular visits to the beach, where he observes washed pebbles in a variety of colors, and patterns on sand that are created by the movements of water and weight differences between black (iron) sand and regular sand. Honna's photographic printmaking is inspired by his fascination with insects that are attracted to the light. He takes pictures of insects and moon at night at his house, and feels the deep blue hue of the cyanotype process was an appropriate way to make prints of these photographs. Honna holds a Masters in Fine Arts from Ohio State University, and a Bachelors in Optional Engineering from Tokai University in Kanazawa, Japan. |
